Respiralia 2010 “II Charity Ultra Marathon against Cystic Fibrosis”

Thanks to the efforts of Darren Dunlop, the idea of running long distances in solidarity is reflected in the organization of this event. Continuing with the spirit of the Respiralia events, this second Ultra Marathon will be run in a circuit of 5 km in Palma de Mallorca and in relay teams, non-competitive and in which the only objective will be that each team complete the 80 km of the challenge. There will be no minimum number of participants per team, so if a person wants to run the 80 km, he/she will be able to do it. The maximum number of runners per team will be 16, as 5 km is the minimum distance to run.

In addition to the race, we make a recreation area for children with a bouncy castle, a mini soccer field, a badminton court and one or more of mini tennis. Finally, if children do not dare to run 5 km at the Ultra Marathon, they will have the chance to run in two races of 1 km each, being the first at 12 a.m. and the second at 4 p. m. In these two races these children will have to run a with one responsible person beside.

The I Tolo Calafat Trophy will be delivered to the runner with Cystic Fibrosis who run the longest relay, to the youngest runner and to the eldest.

As we did in the past, we will launch the Solidarity Card, with which participants can find their own sponsors. Its operation is very simple. People can bet any amount of money to the run of their sponsored runner. The money raised until September 30 will be added, and the final amount will be doubled by Barclays Foundation (up to 3.20o, 00 €). The final sum will be donated to the Respiralia Foundation. It is important that when making the donation, people specify the name and ID of the donor and “Ref F. Barclays”. That’s the only way approved by the Barclays Foundation to double any donation.
