345 participants in the big race and 74 at the children’s race add their solidarity kilometers to ones the children and young people with Cystic Fibrosis perform in their particular Virtual Tour of the World. Among them, 11 boys with Cystic Fibrosis participated in running and 2 as volunteers.
On the sunny morning of Sunday, September 24, this new edition of Solidarity Kilometers against Cystic Fibrosis was held. The red color of the T-shirts of this year flooded the Paseo Marítimo with Palma Cathedral as a witness.
On this occasion, the regional, insular and local administrations were represented by the Health Minister Patricia Gómez and the General Director of IB-Salud Juli Fuster, the second Vice-President of the IMAS (Consell de Mallorca) Caterina Mas, and the President of the IME Susana Moll and the General Director of Sports of Palma City Council Sergio Rodríguez.
The start was given by the representatives of the Obra Social La Caixa and Linde Healthcare, main sponsors of the event.
As usual, our regular runners Dani Mayans and Pedro Murillo gave us their effort to cover 40 km. Special mention for Adrian, a youngster with Cystic Fibrosis who ran 15 km for the first time.
For the second consecutive year, the team of the Asociación de Vecinos de Son Dameto won the award to the most numerous team sponsored by Reus Esports.
At 12:00 the children up to 10 years were the stars. Up to 74 children gathered in this particular race in which they run three laps to a circuit, to cover a total of 800 meters. All the children had their prize thanks to the Consell de Mallorca.
It should also be noted that our participants and volunteers remembered those who most needed it, bringing home cleaning products, personal hygiene and infant food to Mallorca Sense Fam.
