Tip 1: Importance of handwashing
Did you know that 80% of infectious diseases are spread by the hands? Wash your hands often; good hygiene helps with cystic fibrosis.

Tip 2: Importance of hydration in Cystic Fibrosis
Have temperatures risen? Don’t forget to stay well-hydrated and get that extra salt during hot weather or after exercising.

Tip 3: Do you have trouble gaining weight?
Are you having trouble gaining weight? Add a splash of extra virgin olive oil or heavy cream to the soups you make.

Tip 4: Reduction in infections
Do you know how you can reduce infections in cystic fibrosis? Be sure to clean your nebulizer every day and sterilize it at least once a week. Do this by boiling it or using a bottle sterilizer.

Tip 5: Bronchiectasis and mucus in your lungs
Did you know that whether or not you’re being treated with modulators, you can still have bronchiectasis and mucus in your lungs? Don’t forget to do at least one session of respiratory physical therapy every day.

Have you just finished your course of intravenous antibiotics? Replace the nebulizer parts if you can. If not, be sure to thoroughly sterilize the device.

Tip 9: Hygiene at home
Do you know of a simple hygiene tip to incorporate at home? Add a splash of 10% diluted bleach to all the drains in the house—kitchen sinks, bathroom sinks, bathtubs, and showers—ideally once a week.
