La Respiralia Foundation and the Cystic Fibrosis Association of the Balearics spread the knowlegde of Cystic Fibrosis among the youngest through the “Respiralio y el Gran Oso Azul” tale.
One of the formation activities that we carry out is done in educational centers or in private companies. Depending on the age of the students (between 6 and 17 years old), we organize a storytelling or a talk about the respiratory system or about genetics.
For children between 6 and 9 years old, the activity focuses on the storytelling. Through the “Respiralio and the Great Blue Bear” tale, children learn what Cystic Fibrosis is and what symptoms and treatments it has in a fun way. This talk can be organized in educational centers or in companies that are interested in carrying out an activity with their employees and families.
For children from 10 to 13 years old (5th and 6th grade of primary school and 1st and 2nd year of secondary school) we organize talks on the respiratory system and its relationship with acquired or genetic diseases (in this case we focus on Cystic Fibrosis). The talk is accompanied by a practical activity to measure the lung capacity of the students.
For youngsters from 14 to 17 years old (3rd and 4th year of secondary school and 1st and 2nd year of high school) we organize lectures on genetics and Cystic Fibrosis. In addition to the theoretical part, we organize a genetics game to find different phenotypes according to the chromosomes that have been played by each pair of students.
