The health of children and young people with Cystic Fibrosis is the priority of the Respiralia Foundation. For this reason, in exceptional situations such as the one caused by the coronavirus (Covid-19), we must reinvent ourselves in order to maintain the economic resources that make it possible to carry out 700 training sessions on autogenous drainage, inhaled therapy, hygiene measures and re-education to effort.
The “Swimming Tour around Formentera against Cystic Fibrosis” has a great impact on the dissemination of the disease throughout Spain and, probably, in Europe, in addition to generating resources to be able to offer 700 treatment sessions to children and young people with Cystic Fibrosis . The limitations imposed by the Ministry of Health make the face-to-face celebration of the event unfeasible, so we have to reinvent ourselves in order to, first of all, minimize the negative economic impact of not carrying out the event; second, satisfy partially the illusion of people interested in participating and collaborating as volunteers; and, finally, offer an attractive and highly impactful event to maintain the interest of the sponsoring institutions and companies.
For this reason, the Respiralia Foundation and the Cystic Fibrosis Association of the Balearics will shortly present the virtual event called Respiralia 2020 “Corona-Vuelta a Formentera against Cystic Fibrosis”, which will unite us from May to September through actions that we hope will please the people who trust our work.
We are sorry for not being able to gather so many ambassadors of the Respiralia Foundation in Formentera, but we assure you that the Covid-19 will not beat us.
