The Neuroeducation workshop was conducted by Nuria Suárez Pons, a neuropsychologist. The physiotherapist of the Association and Foundation Mónica Ferrer was the promoter of the initiative, realizing that there was a need on the part of parents and people with CF to better manage their daily stress.
Nuria raised an amusing talk, in which the thread was the potential and moldability of our brain, which generates the possibility that the parents will mold our children. In addition, he told us about the importance of educating in the example, since our mirror neurons favor the imitation.
Some of the messages that the parents took home from this interesting workshop were that we must try not to overprotect or overexert in excess, despite Cystic Fibrosis, that we have to set limits and rules for our children to protect them and help them in their maturation and that ideal education is in a good balance between the affection shown and the limits imposed. Too much affection leads to overprotection and too many limits to over-demand.
The workshop was scheduled for two hours, but extended to four hours because of the great participation of the parents. All the attendees agree that this type of meetings should be done periodically, giving a more practical touch, of exchange of experiences.
