160 people gathered in the Santemar Room of the Hotel Santos Nixe Palace to pay tribute to Teresa Llull, president of the Respiralia Foundation, for her more than 35 years of fight against Cystic Fibrosis.
35 years of dedication to the fight against Cystic Fibrosis
Teresa Llull joined the Cystic Fibrosis Balearic Association in 1989 when her grandson Dani was diagnosed. Since then, she has held all the positions of its Board of Directors and some positions in the Spanish Federation of Cystic Fibrosis.
Among its many achievements is the approval of the National Cystic Fibrosis Day, the verification of Cystic Fibrosis in the heel test in the Balearic Islands, the change of the CR-60 nebulizer for the e-Flow Rapid and the cession of a plot of land for the construction of the new center. But perhaps her most important achievement is to be available to all families every day. At 87 years of age, she continues to represent the group and to fight for their rights before the public administrations.
Public administrations were represented
The main public administrations were well represented by people who know Teresa well. Thus, the event was attended by the Mayor and the 2nd Deputy Mayor of Palma; the Minister of Health, the Minister of Housing, Territory and Mobility and the Director General of Health of the Balearic Government; the Minister of Social Welfare and the Minister of Economic Promotion and Local Development of the Consell de Mallorca; the Councilor of Citizen Participation and Defense of Citizenship of Marratxí; the PP Deputy, Marga Durán; and the former President of the Balearic Government, José Ramón Bauzá.
Linde Médica, Rose of the Sea Award 2023
Sergio García, Commercial, Marketing and Institutional Relations Director of Linde Médica, presented the sculpture that presided over his office as the winner of the Rosa del Mar 2023 Award and received a commemorative plaque from Teresa Llull.
Discretion and surprise were key to success
The more than 200 people invited were discreet enough not to reveal the name of the winning candidacy and to reserve the surprise until the moment of the announcement during the event.
Several people with Cystic Fibrosis expressed their gratitude without saying names, before Daniel Nicolau, grandson of the winner, announced the name of Teresa Llull. The recognition of the attendees was in the form of a long applause of more than two minutes that moved the alma mater of the fight against Cystic Fibrosis, Teresa Llull.
Thanks from afar
Many people close to Teresa Llull wanted to join this tribute from a distance. They are people who have fought with her over the years or who, belonging to the political class, wanted to show their appreciation.
This video ends with a message from the President of the Balearic Government, Marga Prohens, who thanks on behalf of the Balearic society the courage and effort of Teresa Llull for fighting for the rights of the collective for so many years.
