Oris, showing his commitment, collaborates in the study and research of diseases that affect a minority of the population. In this case, cystic fibrosis is a genetic disease that affects to all the organs that produce secretions, mainly respiratory, digestive and reproductive. It now has a expectancy of life between 35 and 40 years and its impact on our society is of 1 in 6200 live births.
The Respiralia Foundation is a nonprofit organization that works to improve the quality of life of children and young people with cystic fibrosis and to make people aware about this severe disease. With the vision to become a national and international reference for families and organizations related with cystic fibrosis, the Foundation offers innovative services such as the individualized physical training program, which combines chest therapy (autogenic drainage) and directed physical activity. This program was awarded in 2010 by the Cystic Fibrosis Spanish Federation as the best initiative in treatment of cystic fibrosis.
Oris was founded in 1904. Since its acquisition by the leadership in 1982, the company has been privately owned, belonging mostly to members of the board of directors and managers. In 1985, long before the recent trend of mechanical watches, Oris focused its strategy on the exclusive manufacture of mechanical watches. Its current strategy remains the same. Oris makes watches for people passionate about mechanical movements in search of authentic and contemporary values. The collection is designed to meet the needs of the consumer, within four Oris worlds: culture, diving, aviation and motor sport. Real watches for real people.
