The Respiralia Foundation and the Cystic Fibrosis Balearic Association receive the Ramon Llull Award from the Balearic Government in recognition of the work of patient organizations in the Balearic Islands during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Collective Award
It is a collective award for all the patient associations that are part of this group of entities in recognition of their solidarity and networking work, which has been so important during the pandemic.
Reinventing oneself in the face of adversity
Patient associations have had to reinvent themselves and adapt to a new reality. The Department of Health has strengthened the dialogue and participation of patient associations with a commitment to transparency.
The importance of communication between professionals and patients
The associations have had the opportunity to remind the health authorities of the importance of early diagnosis, personalized care, optimal treatment and, above all, the importance of communication between professionals and patients.
Associations are the voice of the people who have a disease, so they play a fundamental role in the health network as key informants and are the thermometer of the health situation.
The contribution of the Respiralia Foundation and the Cystic Fibrosis Balearic Association
During the pandemic, many bureaucratic steps were taken in order to face the challenges that arose. Doubts were resolved; a more demanding infection prevention protocol was created; protective material was obtained for our professional team and for families; protective material was acquired for our facilities; vaccines were fought for; and digital solutions were provided to be able to continue offering treatment during confinement.
