Irene Junquera, sports journalist and TV presenter, and Pablo Puyol, actor and singer, participated at the XIX Swimming Tour around Formentera against the Cystic Fibrosis held from June 29 to July 1.
This new edition has been characterized by the presence of the owner of our new collaborator OK Rent a Car, Mr. Othman Ktiri, to give the official exit to the participants along with the representative of the Health Minister of the Balearic Government. In addition, the Marketing Director of Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Javier Oriol, and the General Director of Linde Médica, David Asín, joined as participants of the event.
The weather helped the participants to enjoy a first day of more than 9 km of swimming in the western area of the island.
The second day woke up with a swell that forced us to swim sheltered in a single area of the island for the safety of the swimmers, although the jellyfish made an appearance and our health team had to do more than 100 interventions.
That did not stop the party at night, which was a very special moment. The team of volunteers organized a choreography as a gift for the participants.
As new this year, we can say that Mike Debelic, veteran participant, dared to bring a drone to complement the photos of our photographer Agustí Martínez. Our new DJ Alba Serrano, entertained the event with her music during the return to port of each day.
The culmination of the event, as every year, are starred by the participants with their choreography in the third and final day. They tell their experiences, either with adapted songs or with stories that reflect why it is so special for them to come to this event. Costumes, humor and feelings put the end to this 19th edition thinking about how to improve for the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the event.
