The Respiralia Group, in partnership with Físic Espai de Salut Integral, inaugurates the new equipment installed in the gym for the “Endurance” program.

The Respiralia Group has presented its new equipment for the “Endurance” and “Education iequals Health in Cystic Fibrosis” programs, attended by the Director General of Research, Innovation, and Accreditation, Mr. Vicenç Juan; the Vice President of IMAS, Ms. Magdalena García; the 5th Deputy Mayor of Natural Environment, Healthy Environments, Markets, and Innovation of the City Council of Palma, Mr. Llorenç Bauzá; and the Director General of Health, Consumer Affairs, Markets, and Fairs of the City Council of Palma, Mª del Carmen Esparza.
New strength equipment
The new equipment at the Respiralia Group’s facilities allows for strength training exercises that significantly improve lung capacity and prevent osteoporosis and osteopenia in people with cystic fibrosis.
Tour of the facilities
During the event, Carlos Pons, Director of the Respiralia Group, explained that scientific research has shown that strength training (maximum strength and strength endurance) is better than aerobic exercise for people with cystic fibrosis in particular, and for society in general.
Given that in 2009, when the gym was equipped, only aerobic exercise machines were available on medical recommendation, with the new scientific evidence, since 2022, the Respiralia Group referred users of the “Endurance” program over the age of 16 to the gym of their physical educator Joan Llobera, founding partner of the company Físic Espai de Salut Integral, where they could perform the exercises most appropriate for their treatment.
A strategic alliance
In order to centralize all their services once again, the Respiralia Foundation and Físic Espai de Salut Integral are joining forces in this strategic alliance to provide the best facilities for the treatment of cystic fibrosis, with a gym equipped not only with exercise machines and weight stations, but also with an air renewal system that prevents cross-infection among people with this disease.
