The President of the Respiralia Foundation, Teresa Llull, received the Gala Salut 2025 Award for the “PrevAcción: get active with healthy habits” project that we carry out in schools.

“PrevAction: get active in healthy habits”
The project “PrevAction: get active in healthy habits” consists of carrying out activities in educational centers to raise awareness about cystic fibrosis, promote healthy habits, and eradicate discrimination based on illness in classrooms. With these training sessions, we aim to improve the environment for people with cystic fibrosis to protect them from contact infections.
“Respiralio and the Big Blue Bear” storytelling
Storytelling aimed mainly at students aged between 6 and 9. It promotes values such as friendship, companionship, and solidarity, while teaching children about the symptoms and treatment of cystic fibrosis.
The “Respiralio’s suitcase” song helps these students learn about the best habits for leading a healthy life.
Talk on respiratory hygiene and healthy habits
This talk reviews the respiratory system, discusses the possible causes that can damage it and the diseases that can be caused by these causes, teaches what cystic fibrosis is, and includes practical exercises to learn about the relationship between the respiratory system and the circulatory system. Finally, after comparing the results between measurements at rest and after explosive exercise, there is a final talk on the relationship between healthy eating and exercise and healthy living.
“You decide” workshop
This workshop, aimed at students aged 12 and over (1st year of secondary school), aims to show the reality of life for someone with a chronic respiratory disease caused by smoking; the reality of someone who is obese (18,7% of the Spanish population and 1 out of 10 children, according to official data in 2020); that of a person blinded by glaucoma (poorly controlled diabetes and excess sugar); and that of a person in a wheelchair due to physical limitations following an accident caused by driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Impact
By the end of June 2025, 5,879 students had received some form of training, with the forecast reaching 6,850 by the end of the year.
Collaborations
This project originated in 2012 thanks to an initiative by Levi’s Strauss. In 2017, it continued in the actual format thanks to collaborations with the Balearic Government, IMAS, Acció Social CaixaBank Baleares, Vertex, and the Auchan Foundation.
