Air Liquide Healthcare España grants the Vitalaire 2022 Award to the Respiralia Foundation’s project “Social integration of people with Cystic Fibrosis through sport”, with an amount of 2,000.00 €.
The Respiralia Foundation is committed to sports
Since 2009, the Respiralia Foundation has been committed to sport with its initial project called “Individualized physical preparation for people with Cystic Fibrosis”. Currently this program is called “Reeducation to the effort” and is getting great results.
Thanks to the building’s gymnasium inaugurated in that year, people with Cystic Fibrosis have specialized personnel to guide them in their exercises.
Social integration through sports
For a person with Cystic Fibrosis to be able to perform daily activities, it is necessary to take great care of the physical part of his treatment. This is the only way to be able to perform more daily activities that require physical effort or to perform the usual ones more easily.
Increasing lung capacity through force exercises
Maximum strength and strength-endurance exercises have become a very effective tool for increasing lung capacity.
Contrary to what was said a few years ago, this type of exercise, performed in a controlled manner and with proper execution, is not only not harmful, but helps to increase lung capacity.
Prevention of osteoporosis and osteopenia
These strength exercises also prevent the osteoporosis and osteopenia so frequent in women with Cystic Fibrosis.
Our team of physical educators, Joan Llobera and Joan Huguet, have been working for years with people with Cystic Fibrosis and studying the positive effects of their sports routines on them.
Vitalaire always supports the fight against Cystic Fibrosis.
The Vitalaire Awards are a reference for Cystic Fibrosis associations in Spain, thanks to a long history of aid and support for the work we do to help the group of people with Cystic Fibrosis.
